Pecan Festival Grand Marshal
Tatyana Faulk-Frink, Ms. Black North Carolina

Tatyana Faulk-Frink was crowned Ms. Black North Carolina 2023 on December 18, 2022.  Raised and reared in Chadbourn, NC, she is a queen who wears many hats/roles.

She currently has a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science and an Associates Degree of Nursing from ECPI University and is an aspiring medical school student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.  Her plans are to become a cardio-thoracic surgeon.

Ms. Faulk-Frink is the founder of two small businesses and a non-profit organization, initiated in 2015, when she became the CEO/Founder of Her Highness, Inc, an empowerment mentorship organization for girls and women in North Carolina communities.  Her non-profit hosts a free annual week-long summer camp, business and networking brunches, college fairs, and actively provides community Christmas assistance and scholarships.

In addition to being a medical student, entrepreneur, and non-profit founder, Ms. Faulk-Frink is a community leader and woman of faith.  She believes that every gift and talent is uniquely created within each person for the sole purpose of serving and uplifting God.  She is known for her saying, “You can!”

Ms. Faulk-Frink will represent North Carolina in competition at the Ms. Black USA Pageant, Saturday, August 5, 2023, which will air on FOX SOUL. Her platform is advocating for equitable access to healthcare, particularly in the black community, which has been historically and traditionally under served and under represented in healthcare. She hopes that she can use her reign as Ms. Black North Carolina to promote her platform and draw inspiration for the small-town girls like herself, showing that the same talent exists within them to do and be anything!
