Judge C. Ashley Gore

The N.C. Pecan Harvest Festival executive committee has announced that Judge C. Ashley Gore will serve as the 2019 Pecan Festival Celebrity Queen.

As a Whiteville native, Judge C. Ashley Gore has always been proud to call our small town "home.” Born and raised in the Pleasant Plains community, Ashley quickly learned to value the importance of family, friends, and faith. Throughout her childhood and adolescence, Ashley was guided and encouraged by leaders in the community, from Sunday School teachers, to school teachers, to local business owners. The meaningful values she learned growing up made a great impression on Ashley and they helped shape her future plans and endeavors.

She graduated from Whiteville High School in 2005 and then pursued an undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating summa cum laude, and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity, Ashley attended Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate.

After graduation, Ashley moved back home to Whiteville and began working as an associate attorney with Hill and Gore, PLLC Law Firm, and then Gore Law, PLLC Law Firm. After several months as a defense attorney, she accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney in the 13th Prosecutorial District, and her seat in the courtroom moved from one counsel table to the other. Ashley tried cases ranging from DWIs to misdemeanor assaults, and she fell in love with the work of being a public servant.

In 2016, Ashley was elected District Court Judge, and she has proudly served the people of Columbus, Brunswick, and Bladen Counties. Ashley is passionate about being able to give back to her community, and to be an example of honesty and integrity in the courtroom. She presides over both criminal and civil matters, and her favorite part of the job is interacting with people from all walks of life. Ashley finds her job to be both rewarding and challenging, and every day is an opportunity to help someone and render justice.

Ashley enjoys being involved in her community. She is a member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, she volunteers with Columbus County Teen Court, and she is on the Executive Board for the Boy Scouts of America. Ashley has been attending the Whiteville Pecan Festival since she was a young child, and she is very honored and humbled to be a part of the Festival this year. Ashley and her husband, Brad Lovin, live in the Pleasant Plains Community, near her parents, David and Terri Gore, and her sister, Sarah Gore, a local Chef and Caterer.
